In the midst of our rapidly changing reality, the experience of alienation is common. Most of us no longer walk the land of our ancestors. Yet, we long to belong. We seek home everywhere we go. This is why heritage plays a significant part in our present and future.
Who are we as Romanians living abroad? How can we remain connected to our roots? We should look at our heritage with care and devotion. It has shaped our identities and it continues to define our Romanian-ness. It keeps our communities together, it bonds us as a nation, wherever we are.

These days we celebrate “Zilele Babei“. This old Romanian tradition requires women to chose a day or a ”baba“ between March 1st and 9th and observe the weather that day. It is said to anticipate the mood, luck, and predisposition of the person until next Spring. ”Babele“ symbolizes a fascinating tradition, a legend that has surfaced in several myths and chronicles, based upon an archaic interpretation of weather and family rituals.
