Via Transilvanica in Chicago - An Evening with Alin Ușeriu

Some roads are measured in kilometers. Others are measured in the people you meet along the way.
This fall, a piece of Romania’s most beautiful road, Via Transilvanica, comes to Chicago. 🥾
Via Transilvanica is a 1,400-km trail that crosses Romania from Bucovina to the Danube, through villages, forests, hills, and stories that have waited a long time to be told. Step by step, it was built by people who believed Romania deserved to be discovered on foot, slowly and with an open heart.
Join us for an amazing evening with Alin Ușeriu, president of the Tășuleasa Social Association and one of the people behind Via Transilvanica, the trail that unites Romania.
The evening also includes a screening of “Șona, o poveste scrisă în piatră” (Șona, a Story Written in Stone), directed by Mircea Gherase. The film follows two remarkable artists, Ștefan Câlția and Virgil Scripcaru, as they work together to carve eight milestones for Via Transilvanica, turning stone into art that will guide travelers for generations.
What to expect:
🌄 Great stories from the road, told by someone who has walked it
🎬 A special film screening: “Șona, o poveste scrisă în piatră”
🏡 Good news from home and the people making a difference there
🤝 A warm evening among friends, partners and fellow travelers
Whether you’ve hiked every kilometer, dream of walking it one day, or miss the feeling of home, there’s a place for you here.
