Founded in 2019 as the Arizona American-Romanian Cultural Collaborative (ARCC), the organization was established to promote Romanian culture and create meaningful cultural connections within the communities where its founders and the broader Romanian diaspora live and work. The initiative was inspired by the belief that Romania's rich artistic and cultural heritage—recognized and celebrated on the international stage—could make a valuable and lasting contribution to Arizona, one of the most culturally diverse states in the United States.

The organization's inaugural initiative, the Arizona Romanian Film Festival, was developed in partnership with the Making Waves film festival and introduced audiences to The Romanians: 30 Years of Cinema Revolution, a retrospective celebrating three decades of Romanian filmmaking following the fall of Communism. The festival invited audiences to explore the evolution of contemporary Romanian cinema and the emergence of new forms of artistic expression that have shaped the country's cultural landscape.

Internationally acclaimed as the Romanian New Wave, this remarkable body of work is distinguished by its minimalist storytelling, authentic narratives, and subtle dark humor. Through carefully curated screenings and cultural events, the organization continues to showcase the creativity, diversity, and global significance of Romanian cinema while fostering intercultural dialogue and strengthening appreciation for Romanian arts and culture in Arizona and beyond.
