Bordeaux, France
Biblioteca Prichindeilor was founded in January 2021, when its first branch opened in Prague. Inspired by a shared passion for books, education, and the Romanian language, the initiative was launched by Ana RΔduleΘ, who brought together Romanian families living in the Czech capital for Romanian-language storytelling sessions. The project was created to inspire children to discover the joy of reading in their native language while offering parents a welcoming space to connect, build friendships, and strengthen their community. From the very beginning, the library has also been committed to providing free access to Romanian books for families living abroad.
As the initiative grew, its vision resonated with Romanian communities across Europe, leading to the creation of new branches in multiple countries, including Biblioteca Prichindeilor Bordeaux, which continues the mission of promoting Romanian language, literature, and cultural identity among children and families in France. Together, these libraries create welcoming community spaces where stories, learning, and meaningful connections help preserve Romanian heritage for future generations.
Today, Biblioteca Prichindeilor has grown into an international network of 22 branches, Cyprus included bringing together thousands of children, parents, and volunteers. Through storytelling, cultural activities, and educational programs, the initiative continues to promote Romanian language, literature, and heritage while creating welcoming spaces where communities can connect, learn, and grow together across borders.
