Code4Romania started in an apartment in Rotterdam in 2015, after the tragedy from Colectiv. It all started with a simple idea of an app, and after a short time, the first project, Vot Diaspora is implemented.
The organization aims to digitalize Romania and create a digital infrastructure finding digital solutions for real problems. Until now, Code4Romania has:
- 2011 volunteers
- 365.000 hours of volunteer work
- 24 finished projects and 22 work in progress.
Through their programs, Code4Romania focuses on: education, health, environment, vulnerable groups, and civic engagement. The project builds and administrates the social change ecosystem through technology. The main goal of the organization is to maintain the community united and grow it for better results.
The impact and implication of the organization are overwhelming, as it can be seen through all their programs: Civic Labs, Tech for Social Good, Civic tech 911, Update Romania, or Task Force.
