Fagaras Mountains become home for bison, AprilΒ 2021
Conservation Carpathia Foundation was founded in 2009 to create a world-class wilderness reserve in the Southern Romanian Carpathians.
The Foundation is actively protecting and preserving the large forest areas and purchased 25.400 ha for protection and restoration. Their focus is on the preservation of forested mountains containing high biodiversity.
Their mission:
- preserving the forests and animals in the Carpathian Mountains
- develop the area economically through eco-tourism
- create the largest national parks in Europe
- help the communities develop through tourism.
So far, the Foundation replanted 2.9 million trees, eradicated 25 km of tractor tracks, reintroduced the bison in their habitat, and initiated several social programs in communities to develop the field of environmental education. Also, they developed business plans for 17 businesses in eco-tourism.
RUF partnered with Conservation Carpathia for their mission and helped preserve the natural richness of forests and diversity of wildlife habitats
