We’re so excited for the partnership with Lights On Romania and for bringing the “Mi-e Dor De Tine” installation to Chicago.
Lights On Romania announced last week the arrival of “„Mi-e dor de tine”/ „I miss you” installation in the heart of one of the largest Romanian communities in the United States. It creates an imaginary bond that will make Romanians feel closer to their loved ones from home. Two years ago, in November 2019, Lights On Romania gifted this message to those who live in the capital of the United Kingdom. The pictures from Canary Wharf traveled around the internet, sparked strong emotions, and reminded the viewers for a moment that they are not forgotten. We are eager to begin the next chapter of this story, all about DOR.“

ROCO Chicago is being established in order to strengthen, celebrate and promote the talent and success of Chicago’s Romanian Community. It is a space for the community and is led by the community, where everyone is welcome to participate and share their needs as well as their resources.
The mission of RoCo is to assist people to fulfill their dreams, their visions, their aspirations, by providing a safe and shared space, and by creating the right environment for all of us to live a relevant and impactful life and to maximize everyone’s own potential

At the end of October, the American Romanian Cultural Society announced the winners of the 2021 Romanian American National Heritage Awards, 5th edition.
The jury, representing American Romanian Cultural Society, Alianţa and RUF - Romanian United Fund based their decision on the national and international impact of the volunteering activity described, the candidate's academic achievements and leadership potential and track record, as well as their future vision for the benefit of the Romanian community, locally and beyond.
We would like to congratulate our very own, Andreea Haidău who has dedicated countless hours to RUF and in inspiring her generation of Romanian Americans to pick up the torch of civic engagement and carry it forward. Andreea was awarded the Platinum National Award or the highest honor in this series. Congratulations, Andreea, and thank you for your dedication!
