What a summer it has been!
The 2025 edition of Trips to Romania has officially come to a close, and our hearts are still full from the unforgettable moments we shared together. This year, dozens of young people from across the diaspora joined us to explore, restore, learn, and reconnect with Romania in ways that words can hardly capture. And for the very first time, we organized a trip dedicated to our beloved RUF Angels - a milestone that made this summer even more special.
Each of the five journeys carried its own magic, yet together they told one story: of heritage, adventure, and belonging.
๐ฟ On Via Transilvanica, from Vatra Dornei to Tฤศuleasa Social, we walked in the footsteps of history, across forests and mountain paths, following Romaniaโs first long-distance trail. Inspired by iconic routes like the Camino and the Appalachian Trail, this journey was a reminder that nature heals, challenges, and connects us deeply to our roots.
๐จ In Banat, through the Color the Village Volunteering Camp, diaspora teens rolled up their sleeves, restoring homes, painting smiles, and breathing new life into the local community of Grฤdinari. It was a week of hard work, laughter, and the kind of friendships that only come from creating something meaningful together.
๐ For the first time, our Angels took to Terra Banatica for an exclusive experience on the Via Transilvanica. Hiking and e-biking through the Banat region, they uncovered hidden gems, met inspiring guides, and discovered just how transformative a journey through Romaniaโs landscapes can be.
โฐ๏ธ At the Semenic Explorer Camp, young adventurers embraced the outdoors in the UNESCO-protected Semenic-Caras Gorge National Park. Between archery, ziplining, survival skills, and hiking at high altitudes, the camp became a playground of discovery, resilience, and lifelong memories.
๐ก And at Pฤuศa Camp, in the heart of Sฤlaj County, diaspora youth immersed themselves in heritage and tradition. Through conservation work, cultural workshops, and connections with local experts, they not only helped preserve Romaniaโs wooden churches and rural charm but also built a deeper bond with their ancestral roots.
Looking back, each trip was a thread in a larger tapestry - one of belonging, pride, and joy. Together, these experiences brought our mission to life: to connect the Romanian diaspora with the homeland in meaningful, transformative ways.
But this is only the beginning. As we dream forward, we are already planning future journeys, new destinations, and fresh opportunities for young people and communities to come together.
So keep an eye on our announcements - whether youโre an adventurer, a volunteer, or someone simply longing to reconnect with Romania, your journey with Trips to Romania is waiting.
Until then, we carry the memories of this summer in our hearts ๐๐๐.
