We are looking for a passionate, detail-oriented UX and customer journey expert to help us improve the user experience across the GlobalRomania online community hosted on Circle ⭕. As we re-launch and grow our platform, we need someone with a keen eye for design, structure, and usability to analyze, recommend, and help implement improvements that create a smooth, engaging, and visually appealing experience for our members worldwide.

Reporting: Weekly check-in (15 minutes) with the Community Manager

🔍 About the Role

This is a volunteer position, ideal for someone who believes in community building, is interested in the Romanian diaspora, and wants to contribute meaningfully while honing their UX expertise in a real-world project.


🚨 Current UX Challenges

We’re aware of several pain points:

  • Many users don’t personalize their profiles (missing photos, bios, locations).

  • Low engagement in several groups—discussions are sparse or non-existent.

  • Forms (event registrations, onboarding, feedback) are complex or uninviting.

  • Visual design is inconsistent or not up to modern standards.

  • Access groups and permissions in Circle ⭕ are not intuitive or well structured.

  • Notifications are either overwhelming or completely silent, causing confusion.


🛠️ Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular UX audits of the Circle ⭕ platform

  • Identify friction points in user flows, especially during onboarding and engagement

  • Analyze content structure, layout, and visual presentation across spaces

  • Evaluate the notification system and propose a user-friendly cadence

  • Recommend simplified, effective form and survey designs

  • Provide suggestions on improving access group structure and visibility

  • Share insights on increasing participation in underutilized spaces

  • Deliver a weekly UX update (15 minutes) to the Community Manager

  • Optionally collaborate with the Community Manager to implement small changes or coordinate with technical support for larger issues


✅ Ideal Candidate

  • 2+ years of experience in User Experience (UX), UI, or Product Design

  • Familiarity with community platforms (Circle ⭕ a huge plus!)

  • Strong understanding of user-centered design, usability testing, and UX principles

  • Comfortable reviewing and improving forms, content structure, and visual layout

  • Strong communication and reporting skills

  • Passionate about community engagement and global connection

  • Interest in the Romanian diaspora and nonprofit community-building a plus
