Short Description:

Hospice Casa Speranței is building Romania’s first pediatric palliative care hospital in Adunații Copăceni. This grant, raised through a fundraising and awareness campaign in the diaspora, reflects the Romanian United Foundation’s strategic commitment to advancing healthcare in Romania through philanthropy and civic engagement.

Details:

The project supports the construction of a 10-bed pediatric palliative care hospital in Adunații Copăceni by Hospice Casa Speranței. Designed to serve children with incurable illnesses, the facility will provide integrated medical, psychological, and spiritual care, offering holistic support to both patients and their families. Romania currently faces a severe shortage of pediatric palliative care beds, making this project urgent and essential.

Impact: Expanding Access to Compassionate Pediatric Care

The project will significantly improve access to specialized pediatric palliative care in Romania, where current services are vastly insufficient to meet national needs. By providing a dedicated 10-bed facility, it will ensure that children with life-limiting conditions receive compassionate, high-quality care tailored to their medical and emotional needs. Families will benefit from integrated support services, helping them navigate incredibly difficult circumstances with dignity and resilience. Beyond direct care, the hospital will serve as a model for future initiatives in the region, raising awareness about pediatric palliative care and inspiring further investment in healthcare solutions for Romania’s most vulnerable children.
