Timisoara Initiative Federation
Advancing the rule of law, independent justice, and individual rights in Romania through non-partisan civic action and coalition-driven advocacy.

Timisoara Initiative Federation (FIT) was founded after the dramatic “Proclamation” of 4 February 2017 in Timișoara, when over 40,000 citizens gathered to defend democracy, the rule of law, and individual rights. It brings together six NGOs in Timișoara, including organizations such as:

  • Asociația Activ Civic Timișoara — focusing on civic education, legal rights awareness, and community accountability.

  • Societatea pentru Păstrarea Identității Civice, Culturale și a Comunității (SPICC) — promoting civic and cultural identity, inclusion of marginalized communities, and cultural-political engagement.

  • Organizația Studenților de la Universitatea de Vest Timișoara (OSUT) — representing student voices; organizing youth forums, debates, and activism in academic and civic spheres.

FIT organizes public campaigns, protests, flash mobs, and conferences (locally and abroad) to uphold democratic standards and citizen participation. It publishes programmatic documents and open letters — including the original 2017 Proclamation, Declarația Timișoara 2024, and Declarația Societății Civile de la Timișoara (2025). FIT runs ongoing initiatives tackling election fraud, organizing anti-extremism rallies, and holding democracy and activism forums. Its core goals are promoting judicial independence, transparency, and active citizen participation in governance.
