As Chairman of The Ratiu Foundation, a Β British registered charity with its headquarters in London, Nicolae Ratiu chairs a board which awards annually up to 100 grants, worth around GBP 200000, Β in a wide variety of fields of study, research, and travel. Funding for projects is today focused more on civil society and democracy-related initiatives.
A businessman and philanthropist, alongside the Ratiu Foundation, Nicolae is also a trustee of a number of further charities in Romania and the UK, amongst which are The Romanian Cultural Centre in London, Pro Patrimonio (The National Trust of Romania), Β ADEPT, Β and The Relief Fund for Romania.
